Dr Rita Cervantes, Director
Her first degree was awarded in 1987 by the National University of Mexico where she is originally from. Her first two specialties were Internal Medicine and Nuclear Medicine after completing her Bachelor of Medicine in Mexico City. She then gained a PhD in Nuclear Medicine for the development of a unique non-invasive technique that measures the arterial and venous cerebral circulation and its relationship with intracranial hypertension.
Her deep interest in research and academics helped her obtain a Diploma in Clinical Pharmacology whilst nursing her son.
In 1997 Australia opened its doors to her and she enterprised in describing brain networks in normal adults as well as the depressed and schizophrenic patients utilizing brain mapping techniques.
In 2004, when The Royal Australasian College of Physicians requested her to undertake further training in Clinical Medicine in order to be able to practice as a clinician, her hidden passion to be closely involved with patients re-surfaced and upon admission to the College as a Fellow, since 2007 she enjoys assisting with the comprehensive health management of patients with Kidney Diseases.
